This project is a culmination of several years of the sleeplessness and labour-pain which precede the birthing of any worthwhile dream. I have learned over the years that the responsibility to answer any call rests upon whoever heard it. The call to do something worthwhile to effect a change in the station of African women, was a beat that pounded away at my conscience for so long that the pain of not doing it eventually reached unbearable proportions.

However, to birth this dream was not easy.

First, I had to extricate myself from ‘dream-stealers’ when I learned the power of the spoken word: I needed to lose all those besetting weights and distractions.

Then, against the backdrop of a culture that has not responded well to women, in particular, who would in any way challenge the status quo, I had to face the fear of ‘what if’ in order to overcome the reluctance to stick my neck out.

In the final analysis, all it takes is a split-second’s realization that we all already have at our disposal, all the resources needed to answer our calling, and that our accountability is to a much higher authority. Suddenly, closed doors begin to open, seemingly of their own accord and voila! A dream is birthed!
